About Us

The Tree House Early Learning Center in Independence, Kansas, is a high-quality, creative, safe, and engaging environment for children ages 6 weeks to 6 years.

Here at The Tree House Early Learning Center, we want to bring the outside in, which is where we get our name. We want to provide an environment with a natural, cozy feel to promote learning. We support the development of children from 6 weeks to 6 years through fun, creative, and engaging activities that are appropriate for their age and their developmental needs. We also have other exciting activities, such as trips to the library, water days, yoga, and field trips! We can't wait to meet you and your family and make your child's education our priority.

Who We Are

Tamisha Sewell is the Founder and Director of The Tree House Early Learning Center. She has been in early childhood education since 2009. She graduated with a degree in Family and Human Studies in August of 2013. Tamisha also received her Child Development Associate credential in January of 2012. She has worked with a wide variety of age groups in classroom settings, from infants through 8-year-olds. She believes in caring for children in a way that is fun and educational because if children learn at an early age that learning is fun, then they'll be set up for a life of learning and success.

Tamisha is also very active in the community as a USD 446 School Board Member, a member of Indy Women United, a member of Women for Kansas, and the local chapter of The League of Women Voters. She is also a member of various professional associations such as The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), The National Association for Family Child Care (NAFCC). The North American Reggio Emilia Association (NAREA), and the Childcare Provider's Coalition (CCPC).

Nancy Tanner is our Assistant Director. She has been in childcare since 2019 and loved every moment of it! We are excited to have her as an integral part of our team here at The Tree House Early Learning Center.

Dana Wallner is our Pre-K teacher. She has many years of experience in early childhood education. She loves working with kids and is also an artist.
